Is it possible to turn Shockwave files into self contained OSX apps? I know it is possible with OS9's "Flash Player" and the last PC version of it I saw did the same. I am considering making an interactive cross-platform CD for a client and leaving the .swf files as apps would be a benefit.

with flash mx you can publish the movies as .exe for windows and as a mac projector (shows as an app in osx and plays in the flash player).

As another point, Quicktime can open Flash 4 movies, so if you save as Flash 4 format, you can embed a quicktime player in an app and load the swf file into it.
