Strange prob I've had with GoLive on one machine forever:

Example : I have a page called 'index.html' one folder up and link to relatively by typing "../index.html" in the Inspector.

GoLive freaks out and inserts a relative path going back 7 folders before coming back, resulting in ".:/../../../../project/stuff/index.html". It doesn't go back all the way to the root, just 7 steps.

Fixing it in source mode works, but I'm starting to get annoyed.

This does not happen on all projects, just some, which leads me to suspect some problem with moving/renaming/something the containing project folders.

Also, I'm not using any of the site management tools here - just pages.

I believe your problem is being caused by not having your site folder open when you create your link. If the site folder isn't open, GoLive links to the physical location of the file on your hard drive. Try making your connections after creating a site folder and have it open. Everything should work out fine. Hope this helps.
