Is it possible to embedd fonts in a website? Or am I stuck using Arial, Times Roman etc...?
Also, DHTML...is it good or bad? Made a few animations using DHTML, but they don't always display right.
And do you know of any good free website hosts? Or good ones that aren't too expensive. And finally, forms...never understood how to create them, where are good tutorials?
Anyways, I know the basics of web design...hence all the questions. Thanks.

no. basically, if the font is not on the user's computer, it won't show on the site. if it's for a title or something like that, you can create an image using the font. otherwise, for a site-wide font it's generally best to keep it simple for the viewer. anything to wacked out can get hard to read.

imho, i think it's kind of annoying. i've really only seen it used to make a browser shake and cheap tricks like that.

search the forums here, there should be a couple threads about cheap hosting. generally, you should be able to find it for about $7-$15 a month

the form itself is pretty easy... it's the script that parses the data that can be tricky. this is generally done with php, asp, jsp, or a cgi script written in perl. i did a quick search and found this tutorial for using php. there's a lot of tutorials on the web, just do a google and find one that fits your needs.

IE and NS4 both support technologies for embedding fonts in Web pages. However, no other browsers do -not even NS6- and these two are mutually incompatible anyway. In the end, most designers don't bother.
What you can do, however, is use CSS to specify the font you want and a set of fallback fonts for each one. Then you can offer the fonts for download (assuming you're allowed to) on a separate page. If you do that, though, make it absolutely clear that these fonts are not required; otherwise you will alienate readers.

DHTML done well and with good reason is a Good Thing. However, there are precious few examples of appropriately-used DHTML on the Web today. What do you want to use it for?

I rather like PHPWebHosting myself. Despite the name, they actually have very good Perl and Python capabilities too, and you can install most other languages in case you don't like any of those. They're not free, but they're an extremely good value for the price.
