Hi. I'm looking for a web hosting company to have my company's web site on. I need the following features:
-PHP 4
-MySQL
-daily backups of DB data (either into ftp directory or their own backup device)
-PHP email capability
-very realiable
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for a web hosting company. I hope to move my site within the next 5 days.
Thanks in advance.

Dreamhost
Excellent host with very good prices and I've never had any extended downtime issues in the 4 years I've been with them. Email or PM me if you need some specific questions answered.

Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

my friend uses www.p4host.com and likes them a lot. A fair bit cheaper than dreamhost, too, but he's only been using them for a month or so, so i can't comment on long-term reliability.

Dreamhost is good when they give you their best plan for 9.99 a month. But that was a special that only lasted 3 days and probably won't be around again.
If you want reliability, and a cheap price that offers you more than dreamhost's lowest package (for the same $$$), check out Tera-byte. Tera-byte has THE best customer service I've ever seen. 24/7, and unlike Dreamhost, you can call them all you want. Even if you email them, they usually got back to me in 5 minutes (Dreamhost takes several hours).

I've used www.vervehosting.com since early this year and I am very happy with their service. They are quick to respond to support tickets, and have had minimal downtime.

A quick second here for Tera-Byte. I've watched them for a couple years (mostly at webhostingtalk.com). They've maintained a great rep. Have only actually hosted with them for a couple months, but support has been very fast and helpful.

OK, I'm going to give out a family secret here, but everyone's been giving so much to me, I got to give back -

Name sounds dumb, but they give you FULL acces, including SSH/telnet if you ask, and everything else. Full control of yoru account, and I mean FULL. Also, they reply within 2 hours if you have any support issues. They have never been down for me, either.
Best part? $3.33 a month!

The only one of your requirements that I'm not absolutely certain that they do is automated daily backups of MySQL data. However, they will let you run cron jobs (within reason; once a day is fine, though) so something like this should not be difficult to set up yourself.
The price structure is also very good, which should make you happy. Extremely good value.

I also have used phpWebHosting and was extremely pleased with the service they provide. A freind wanted to host large graphic files temporarily on the site for a client of his to download and I needed more than the alloted space (I think they start you with 100 megs), and they quickly (I think the same day) upped my space to 225 megs (50 megs more than I requested) with no hassle at all.
