is it possible to develop java webservices on mac osx with the eclipse ide? I don't have webobjects and don't use projectbuilder. the JWSD package doesn't seem to be available for mac osx (thought that java was platform independent btw...) so what should I download?

I don't know that this helps. It's more geared towards the client side. I'm using Weblogic Workshop for Web Services development right now, but I haven't tried to get it running on OSX. I have not seen eclipse plugins for web services, although I suspect they do exist.

Web Services can be easily developed on OSX. WebObjects is a great way to do it, if you're not already there. But programming in Eclipse will work just fine.

Deployment gets easier under panther, with JBoss and all.

But if you want to code the java beans for your web service, OSX is a great way to do it. Even ProjectBuilder will allow you to develop the web services. There should be nothing to stop you.
