I don't have a legit Panther seed, and I don't feel like pirating one. But I know people who do have them, and through them I've found that all my calls to [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:] return nil, even when the URL used works fine in a web browser from the same machine. Has anyone else experienced this, and more importantly, is there a fix? is there a new API to replace this one? I need something; this is a major functionality of my app.

thanks all

ok a little update. things like www.google.com work. but anything from imdb doesn't. like www.imdb.com or http://us.imdb.com/Tsearch?title=Ter...=Movies+and+TV just give nil. This is from testing with a bare-bones app that just graps the url content and displays it. here is the test app:

I'm at a loss. The imdb pages get retrieved fine from my Jaguar machine, but not from any of the various builds of Panther my friends have. Any leads are welcome

edit: also http://www.imdb.com/index.html does not load in Panther, but does in Jag. Also, mirroring the imdb main page on another server works just fine
