I have an iMac rev D. I really don't think it can make it to panther but I still want to do some programming on it before I buy a new mac. What disadvantages will I be at if I continue to develop in Jaguar? Will my apps run in panther very well (if at all)?

Those cows won't know what hit 'em. They won't know what hit them even after it hits them, because they're cows.

Your apps will run fine. The disadvantage is, I don't think they'll be updating XCode for Jaguar anymore, and you won't get to use some of the new API's. But, if your app is going to run on systems other than 10.3, you likely wouldn't have been able to use them anyhow.

Panther should run a lot more nicely than Jag on your rev D iMac. I've got it running on an old 233MHz rev B iMac and my dad uses it every day to browse the web. Panther will make your iMac feel a good 50% faster at least! Upgrade now!
