Hi,

I own Macromedia Studio MX and run it on osx (panther). I am quite pleased with it and am thinking about upgrading to the new version.

However, I am unclear if I need the Pro version... It alludes to "Data-binding" which is what I am fond of in the regular MX version. Does the regular version not allow you to connect to MYSQL and PHP like the old MX version. Do i need to get the Pro version to do so?

The MX 2004 upgrade includes everything that MX does (and more).

Hmmm... the only thing I see that mentions "Pro" is the Studio Package that includes "Flash Professional".

The other apps included are the same.

If you're not sure, just download the demo(s).

I would also reccommend downloading the demo to try it out. There was a thread here recently about MX 2004 on panther, and the performance is completely unacceptable. In my own experience with the demo, having more than 4 or 5 files open at once in Dreamweaver MX 2004 slowed to program to down to an unusable crawl.

My advise would be to stay with MX (v6). But at the very least, try the demos to be sure you get at least the performance from MX 2004 that MX is currently giving you (many are not).

Good point madmac...

In my experience, MX 2004 was not a good upgrade for my G4/500 Sawtooth... but it runs great on my DP G4/1.25.

ymmv
