I'm looking for opinions on taking credit card orders on websites:

I have a site now that I use PayPal with, and have found PayPal to be VERY unreliable...so I need to accept credit cards direct.

Or does someone know of a service other than PayPal that can handle the processing for you?

I read once that Amazon was going to offer such a service, but that its not up and running yet..does anyone know about this one?

thanks in advance for your thoughts!

You might try searching Sourceforge for ecommerce packages. I ran a search using the keyword shopping and again with ecommerce. Lots of hits. Just have to wade through all the stuff and see what suits you I guess. Most of it is PHP or JSP. Hope that helps.

I use eShox and it works great. It accepts credit cards and Paypal. It is a full e-commerce shopping cart, and will still require you to use a credit card processing company such as Authorize.net but it works great.

I am building a shopping website in the future and I was wondering why you think PayPal is unreliable? I definitely don't want to have any problems once the site is up and running.

I know of several people that use ProPay, and I haven't heard complaint number one from them. That might not make a hill of beans for you, but I know some pretty picky people. Most people are when it comes to their own income...

All generalizations are false.
