I run a small site, I'm an artist and was never good at the development side of creating a site.

I would love to be able to provide my visitors with a community area where they can have a basic profile page with space for a short bio, a photo, guestbook, and private message notes from other users - even free web based email.

I've seen many sites like this while surfing around I would really like to know what is the best way to go about setting something like this up. Something fast, stable, and easy to use.

is there a software package or a hosting company that provides such a service

thanks

i'd say just install something like phpBB, and add some fields to the profile page. there's tons of hacks and add-ons for it, and it's all free.

stick with it, it's still probably the easiest solution for you (when it works)
