I have .Mac - every time I create a file sharing page using the .Mac template it overwrites my index.html file and screws up my website.

I only use .Mac for the space and my whole site is composed of basic html i did myself.

So is there a way I could write a page for the site, from wich visitors to the site could download files (large jpgs up to 8MB)

I need to do this because .Mac won't let me e-mail large files.

Any offers. Cheers in advance dudes.

Well, since you know basic HTML, just create a page with links (and maybe thumbnails) to the files you want to share. Then if you upload another file just add another link. There is a way to do this dynamically, but I don't think .Mac supports server-side scripting.

Thanks,

So presumably then when the person clicks on the link they could choose to open or download the file. Yes?

There is a java script in my page that prevents right clicking to copy photos to clipboard - will this thwart my efforts to share some selected files?

Depends on the file it links to. Archives (zip, sit, etc) will ask to download (or download automatically). Movies or images will often open in the browser, but can then easily be saved to your computer. You may consider not having the javascript on the download page, since it will presumably not be needed (instead only harm functionality).
