Does anyone have any ideas on how someone would use .menu items in a Cocoa application?

The last thing we need is more crap up there.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

I actually made a program that did this a while back, but unfortunately it doesn't work right because about half of the standard menu extras are actually part of SystemUIServer. (You can take a look yourself -- there's no executable code inside their bundles.)

Great annoyance, I'll tell you. I really want to clear off my menu bar too.

Ok, reading http://developer.apple.com/documenta.../uid/10000073i I have figured out that what I need to impliment is the NSStatusBar but the documentation says there is currently only 1 status bar available and that is the one in the menu bar.... Has anyone suggessfully implimented an additional one?
