Hey everyone.

When I was about 12 years old, back in the days of AOL and a dialup modem, there was a game called "Federation." It was a free, Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game that was very popular. It was all text based, basically like Everquest without the graphics. And it was a SPACE fantasy game, not a midieval thing. You start on earth and you can do shipping missions with your small shuttle and earn money and eventually build your own planet. (all text) It's the greatest thing ever because there aren't people telling you what things look like, it's all in your imagination. whenever you move north or southwest, or wherever, it gives an outstanding description of what is in front of you. It was all live, and it was very fun. Kind of like multiplayer Escape Velocity without the graphics.

ANYWAYS, getting to the point. After about a year the makers took it off AOL and onto the web. And they made you pay for time. (dunno how much it is but enough so that it became unpopular) I want to remake this game, name it something else. I want to make it massively multiplayer. I want it to be free.

I have been doing actionscript (Flash) for a while and know it pretty well. I'd rather make a standalone application though. Maybe use REALBasic? I am obviously going to need a database that stores user info like position, characteristics, login/pass, money, you know a ton of crap. If 4 people are standing in the same "sqaure" or place on the grid, and one of them /says something, then it should appear in the live scrolling text box on the screen: Gorf says, "Hello my name is Gorf." Any ideas/geniuses out there who wanna help?

I don't know any programming languages fluently (except actionscript) but I can learn fast w/my 134 IQ

my email is geoff_russel@suffieldacademy.org if you want
