I want to install Apache Xerces and Ant on my Mac. I wonder what's the best way to do this.

The JAVA_HOME is /library/java/home/bin. Do I make dynamic links in here? And if so, can I create links to folders with jars? And will all those folders and subfolders be used?

Or should I create a startup script? And if so, where do I put this?

If you put jar files in /Library/Java/Extensions or ~/Library/Java/Extensions they will automatically be added to your classpath.
