while learning c i came accross the need for the hash key. never used it before so i start scanning my keyboard for it but wait my apple keyboards DONT have them what can i do?!!

Hash? As in shift-3?

It's opt-3 in the British-English keyboard layout, as shift-3 is the £ symbol.

Programmers like to make up names for all the special (non-alpha) characters. Here's a link to a pronunciation guide for all the commonly used names:

I use these a lot and newbies always give me a funny look when I say them :
