i just put up my new website [http://www.chrisdrackett.com/news] (which i created to learn css and moveable type) and was curious if anyone had any comments or suggestions.. i am new to css, and know that my site can be improved to make it more compatable with more browsers (right now it just likes safari, mozilla, and ie6 for the pc)

also, i was curious if anyone had any ideas about how i can fix a bug.. on my right bar, i have an e-mail and aim link.. for some reason, when you roll-over them in anything other than safari, they shift a little bit.. i have tried to fix it using differnt margins and padding, but nothing seems to work!

thanks for the help, and hope you like the site..

p.s. i am getting the alternate (color) style sheets up later today, so right now anything but orange is a little funky.

Just an idea... it's probably bouncing because the email link on top has no border when in the "off" state, but when in the "hover/over" state you add a border on top and bottom.

I would suggest putting a border same color as the background on both for the "off" state. Then when your mouse enters, you should see no pop since the height is relatively the same.

Try that, I am betting that's why.

haha, thats awesome.. i've been working on this for so long, i think logic decided to leave me..

thanks ^_^

ok, i tried the thing with the borders, and while it works, the pre-rollover borders break up my background image (the shadow on the left) i know i could go with a css rollover image, but i want to do it using only css if possible.. any other suggestions?

Looks like the site isn't coming up for me.

However, I am not sure how you have the buttons wrapped (div or table) but maybe resize the div and table. Not sure.

Well, I didn't check out the CSS so I don't know exactly how your site is architected but since your div has no explicit size (good practice btw)... try giving it a margin of however many pixels of space you want on the left and right.

Also, did you get some.. umm.. inspiration from simplebits.com?
