I'm know this gets asked every 84 minutes, but I was wondering what the current favorites are.
What I need are:
SSH login
CGI scripting
at least 100 MB storage
good service
4 or 5 GB bandwidth
around $20/quarter.
I've seen some alright reviews for http://www.realwebhost.net . Anyone have their own recommendations?

Bah, 1and1 is horribly implemented and has a terrible web interface, imho. It's a little more than you wanted to spend, but I would recommend Dreamhost. For $10 a month you get 500MB of space, 25GB monthly bandwidth, MySQL, PHPMyAdmin, POP, SMTP, IMAP, full shell access, FTP, PHP, CGI, WebDAV, and a ton more. Support is excellent, the web interface is intuitive, and the overall value is outstanding.

SpyMac paid hosting looks to be pretty nice. Their "excellent" package is 7 bucks a month and offers a free domain name, 500MB storage, 20GB bandwidth, PHP, Perl, a MySQL database, and 10 e-mail addresses. It has a 10 dollar setup fee. Plus.. how could you go wrong with:
The Spymac Hosting servers are located in Düsseldorf, Germany, in a secure, Suntone Certified facility that utilizes biometrics, CCTV, key-cards, mantraps and 24x7 on-site-security guards. Redundancy is built into Spymac's server cluster, allowing for fast, reliable services with virtually no down time. Spymac Hosting's dual 100Mbit connections provide fast access to your web site and hot-swappable backup systems ensure that your date is secure. Your site will be hosted in the same facility and with the same technology that is used to power leading Mac sites such as Spymac.com and TheAppleCollection.com
I'm considering signing up with them although I'd like to find some reviews.

I switched from Hostway to RackNine to 1and1. Thus far 1and1 has been pretty decent. Their web interface does suck quite a lot but it is functional enough. They do offer SSH access which makes up for some of the web interface deficiencies. I wish they would use CPanel, the host my brother's band's website is on uses CPanel and I like it. My brother's band uses ImHosted which is pretty nice. I'm actually kind of partial to ImHosted anymore. 1and1 is really popular but they do things quite a bit differently than other hosts and it can be a PITA working with their web interface.
For instance, your e-mail boxes don't have the same user names as the box names. Say you've got joe@domain.com. On every other host I've seen your username would be joe and the mail server would be something like mail.domain.com. On 1and1 your username for that mailbox is just your user number appended with the mailbox number and your mail server will be mail.1and1.com. I've got several addresses on my domain each with their own mailbox. I had to reset all of them in Mail which was a big hassle and is not very intuitive. Simply looking at the username won't tell me what mailbox it is. I also can't set mailbox sizes manually. I keep my catch-all spam address limited to 1MB usually. If something I need goes to the box I can grab it off the top but otherwise there's never going to be too many messages in it. I haven't been able to find any controls to do that on 1and1. I just switched to 1and1 a couple months ago but ImHosted is looking very appealing anymore.
