I have been using Xcode for a while now on one machine (I use PB on another) and have recently begun having a problem with builds hanging often (but not always) when errors are encountered. I get a few error reports, and the blue progress bar just stops progressing. The only way I have found to clear this state is to close the project and reopen it again. Not a terrible problem, but it is a bit annoying.

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone find a way to stop this from happening?

(BTW, I am running Xcode 1.1.)

Thanks for any thoughts anyone might have on this.

I have has a similar problem, although more severe. Ever once in a while, and sometimes more often, my build process will completely stop at the first step. It appears to me that the compiler (cc) is crashing, and XCode can't figure it out. Instead, it just hangs. The only way to get rid of it is to force-quit XCode.

Very annoying, especially when it does it often. I also am running XCode 1.1

Thanks,

I have not had to force-quite Xcode. If you don't mess with it, you can close the project window and then open it back up w/o any problems. However, if you try to force it to stop the build, then it will give errors and you are screwed.

I believe this was a known issue with Xcode 1.1 and it has been fixed in 1.1.1.

JNI: is 1.1.1 available? I just checked the ADC site and only find 1.1. Perhaps 1.1.1 is in pre-release? Or am I missing something obvious?

Oops. sorry, it must be a seed only. It's been out for more than a month, so I guess I assumed it was released by now.

At the risk or losing my account for violating my NDA, the problem you have does appear to be fixed. I had hang problems often with 1.1. There are ways to avoid it, e.g. by not doing certain things simulataneously, but I don't remember all the tricks off hand. I have no idea what is holding up the public GM release.
