I'm noticing that my website directory seems to automatically spawn these annoying files with the same names as my own files but with the .lck extension. I take it that these are "lock" files that prevent more than one user for accessing the file it's matched with at the same time.

How do I automatically eliminate these nuisances? My FTP client software (Transmit for OS X) is supposed to not display hidden files, but for some reason this doesn't work. I don't mind if the files are there as long as I don't see them (I like my remote file listing to match my local list exactly -- I find that reassuring).

I see these things on my webhost server as well. Annoying to say the least.

I wonder if our system administrators can set those to be invisible for us?
