I couldn't find anything on this anywhere.
the iDisk is a WebDav server, right, so why can't I set up Dreamweaver MX to connect to it as a WebDav server?
I am using the address: http://idisk.mac.com/username
with a username and password that work elsewhere.
is this impossible, or am i missing something?
Thanks!

no that doesn't work.
i was using http:// because that's what the iDisk notes say to use for WebDAV access.
But I guess Dreamweaver is not compatible with this.
no big deal. just save it locally, and then drag and drop when i want to upload.

Have you tried Goliath?

I understand you want to use the built-in for Dreamweaver to make changes and upload from within the same app.
There should be some way to integrate this, but you could mount your iDisk and then say its a 'local' file. That should work, too.
Good luck!

that's a good idea. it seems to work, but iDisk is such a dog. i should really drop this .Mac stuff, but changing emails is annoying, and the integration is too smart.
i don't see why i would need Goliath for iDisk. Maybe in older versions of OS X, but 10.3 already supports iDisk like any disk in the finder. Thanks though.

You're right. I'm still running Jaguar, which is why I mentioned it. :-)

I used to use both .Mac and a real hosting account, since I too had the issue of changing emails, and appreciating the .Mac integration.
However over the course of a year I simply created a new email @mydomain.com - notified everyone, and kept both running all year. By the end of the year, the .Mac address was no longer used, and I had one-by-one replaced everything I did on .mac with a better hosting alternative. Haven't looked back since!
.Mac is great to start with, but pretty soon you start to want the control of a real account.

Are you able to sync your contacts, bookmarks, and calendars with your non-.Mac server? How do you do that?

Manually back them up. If you need help finding them on your computer, just PM me and Ill show you where they are. Its not that hard...
Although I do like iDisks and iSync, the server support on .Mac is pretty crappy for what one pays. I think it only supports JavaScript and nothing else...

yes, the lack of cgi support and the low cost of real hosting led me to 1and1.com for $5/month.
then i found out, after signing up, that you get their CGI scripts for that price, but to to your own, its $10/month.
