I have all three packages installed from ServerLogistics now but I find PHP to be really slow, so I'm wondering, being a beginner, if I use Apache by selecting "web sharing", install PHP from entropy which I tried once and seems to work really fast, and install complete_mysql from serverlogistics, would I run into any problems?

And second question, does anyone who uses the ServerLogistic packages have any ideas on how to get PHP to work quicker?

Thanks.

I've used the built-in apache along with Entropy's PHP and the MySQL from mysql.com with great results. It's fast, reliable, stable, and works as expected.

I can't comment on Server Logistics (never heard of it), but the problem is likely there if there is one, since the Entropy package has been very widely tested and is recommended by the MySQL developers.

I am running OS X's pre-build Apache (ie turn on web sharing in system prefs) + the entropy PHP package + the ServerLogistics MySQL package.. no problems here

Thanks so much, that's exactly the answer I needed because PHP from ServerLogistics seems to run real slow and I didn't know (being a beginner) if there was any special configuration that had to be done. Is that the reason your using Apache from apple and PHP from Entropy?

Again thanks for the response.

Apple's apache is pretty standard. However, the PHP from Entropy has lots of optional compilation stuff included, like zlib, Expat XML, ftp support, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Sybase, LDAP, ODBC, PCRE, etc. Apple's lacks most if not all of that.

Yep, I use the entropy.ch PHP release and Server Logistics MySQL releases. They work great!
