When I first heard of Contribute I was extatic. Finally a website editor / content management system from a company that knows html. It knows css, shtml and cold fusion. It's very user-friendly. Basically it's someting I wanted to recommend to my clients so they wouldn't have to call me up every time they want to change a bit of text.
But there's one big flaw that I didn't foresee - thanks to contribute's understanding of css, it has a nasty tendency to override crucial css instructions. The interface has a nifty little pulldown, placed prominently to let you choose paragraph, h1, h2, h3 etc... looks good so far.
But text edited in what seems like ought to be simple <p> tags, gets marked up like this:
<p style="margin-bottom: 0;"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">
Huh? I'm mad. It's such a little flaw, but such an important one. There doesn't seem to be any way at all to control margins from contribute. Anyway, just venting... sorry.
