Alright, I'm incredibly new to this so go easy.
I have a domain name registered, but no hosting for its web site.
Currently, the address points to the webpage of a family friend who, when I was young, registered the domain for me.
I no longer want it to direct there, instead I'd like to direct it to my OS X webserver page.
From what I can tell, the direction has to do with the name server, which is ns1.xxxxx.com and ns2.xxxxxx.com
How (if at all possible) can I direct the domain name to my webserver which is my ip address?

Also, I've heard of static ip's which I take to mean that the ip address remains the same where ever you connect...am I wrong?

Thanks for the help!

I don't have my own domain, so I can't be of much help... BUT, I know you can go to a site like DynDNS.org and get a static or dynamic DNS. Pretty much, you register a hostname (like brapper.shacknet.nu) for your server's IP, and when someone connects to brapper.shacknet.nu, they get your server.

I hope that answers your question. If not, sorry.

you're right, it does have to do with dns. your dns should have a control panel or the like where you can add records. look up on google what A, MX, CNAME records are, and then you'll see which of them (hint: A) you should add.
