Can someone please direct me to a downloadable gcj binary for OS X?

From what I've read, you *should* be able to download and build gcc on OS X from source. Haven't tried that yet.

I don't see gcj listed on the fink site either.

Weird.

I'm guessing that Sun doesn't want Apple distributing gcj alongside the JVM... wouldn't want the JVM to look bad. :) But it still should be available via fink, no?... hmm.

Darwin is listed as a supported platform.

You could probably build it pretty easily if that's the case.

Yup. Just thought I'd try out a binary if there was one available.

Thanks for the reply Arkham.

Epilogue:

I downloaded the source, built it myself, then wrote up some detailed
instructions in case anyone else wants to use GCJ on OS X:
http://www.bestweb.net/~john3g/gcj_on_osx.html

I submitted it to osnews, and they even linked to it for me:
http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=7111

It works great. A fellow on the gcc/java mailing list even showed me
that he had AWT working on his machine (with AWT implemented in
terms of GTK+) with a nice screenshot available here:
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/java/2004-05/msg00135.html
though it took him some tweaking to get it to work.
