I'm interested in creating a stand-alone application that performs calculations for formulating recipes. Ideally it would contain ingredient tables to choose ingredients and generate recipe files. Years ago I learned a little C++ but I'm not thrilled about diving back into it. I'm curious to know if this is the type of application that could be written completely with AppleScript using AppleScript Studio. Any thoughts about whether this is something that a novice could tackle? I have no ambitions to do any subsequent programming which is why I'm not interested in investing alot of effort into programming languages. AppleScript seems like something I would be able to grasp easily but I don't know if it's sufficient for creating a stand-alone application.

There are Studio tutorials on Apple's site that you could work though then determine if you want to tackle your project.
