I'm in the process of making a new design for my personal website. I have a "news" section that in the past grew vertically as needed to make the content fit. I'd like to go for a design that fits entirely on a single screen, but I'm not sure how to approach this w/ my news page. I don't mind having only one entry per page, but more often than not, my entries are rather lengthy and require some scrolling. Any ideas on this?

If you are using some form of blog software or CMS, a good way to do this would be to have it display the first 4 lines of the story, and then a 'more...' link. That way you can fit maybe 3 or 4 headlines + story intro's on the first page, and have the user click if they want to read the whole thing.
Well, that would be my suggested way of doing this. With the right software, it would be quite easy to implement too...

I wasn't planning on using any blog software. I have my own code that handles my entries and I could easily incorporate the 'Click 4 More' link. The only problem is that when they do click the more, the entry text will still be lengthy and could still occupy more than a single page worth of area.

Split each entry into several pages. Most blog software has this option, so you should be able to embed it in your code as well.
Same principle as the "click for more" links, basically, just that instead of having only four lines and then a click4more link, you have a whole, and then a "page 2" link, etc.

How do you isolate the posts from a bloging software into a webpage. I would like to just steal the content of a blog without all the other extraneous stuff.
