I was messing around with fennel DVDManager and wanted to see how the exported html would look on our .Mac site. it looks fine, but the dvd box art is not showing up, just the alternate "preview" text in its place. I have the .jpg files in the GFX folder in the same directory in the Sites folder of my iDisk, and the index.html file references the jpg location correctly it seems, but still no luck. anybody have experience with this or know why the pictures would not show up? I thought maybe the pictures were gifs and those are not supported by .Mac, but they're .jpg as they should be...

Well the code is pretty crappy so I wouldn't be surprised if some little thing was causing a problem But try removing this line:

Code:
<base href="http://homepage.mac.com/tramahound/">
That code makes "site.com/directory/gfx/1.jpg" just "site.com/gfx/1.jpg" even though it exists and that's why it doesn't show up. Oh and .mac can display .gifs just fine— they're just files to be rendered by the browser, your server doesn't need any support for them.

Hi tramahound. We've just noticed your post on this forum re our product, fennel DVDManager (sigh), and wanted to tell you we're more than willing to bring the support you need to fully take advantage of it.

So first of all, a reminder: please do contact us directly by e-mail the next time, for any question you may have. This way, we'll be aware of the issues you're experiencing pretty soon and will be able to help you to solve them quickly.

Then, re your very problem: this may be due either to how .Mac handles the pages you submit (by adding some code to the webpages we generate), or to any editing process you may have done before publishing them because our HTML exporting process generates code that does comply to Web Standards. Indeed it successfully passes the validation test from the W3C (with the final message "This Page Is Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional!"), as you could see by yourself by submitting some of the pages exported from fennel DVDManager here: http://validator.w3.org/. So the error is not from us…

By the way, your DVD listing on .Mac (URL: http://homepage.mac.com/tramahound/dvds/index.html) doesn't seem to correctly display the previews… And Synotic is right in saying the code of this page is not, er… optimal. Feel free to contact us directly if you want us to help you publish a clean listing of your DVD offering; we'll be glad to do so.

Bye tramahound.
