Can anyone recommend an easy to use program that can make animated gifs?

I want to make animated icons for use in forums that allow them. The size of the gif (icon) would be 100 pixels x 100 pixels.

I know it can be done with Photoshop and Imageready but I do not really understand how to do it that way. Can it be done with Elements?

Is there a simple shareware/freeware program that can do this? I know there are PC applications that do this and would assume there are some for the mac.

I have tried GIFfun (that I found on versiontracker) but the final result is really pixelated. The image resolution I am using is 72 pixels/inch.
Should the image resolution be higher?

Also, is there a way to take a clip from an anime (for example) and use it for the icon?

Thank you for the help.

I think you gave me an idea for a cheap shareware program. What features are you looking for? PM me or email me and let me know.

I was about to suggest GIFfun, but I see you already tried it. I don't think the pixellation has anything to to with the app, though. I'd give it another shot; the price is right.

Try VSE Animation Maker - http://www.vse-online.com/animation-maker/download.html

I haven't tried it for a couple of years as I use Imageready, but it was pretty easy to use.

Don't know if it is X-native yet - a lot of VSE's products aren't yet. GRRR - if you check their FAQ page they say that there isn't 'demand' for OS X versions just yet, but I see it as poor programming if they can't even make a quick'n'dirty carbon port.
Computer thez nohhh...

How about graphics converter? I've used that in the past.

Or fireworks (somehow)
