Hi all,

I'm using: MySQL db, JSP for the front-end, Apache web server, on a Linux machine.

I have a Microsoft template document. I'd like to do a query of the database and have the web app generate a bunch of Word documents on the server by dumping the query results into the template. Each Word document would represent the data from one row of data in the db.

Is this hard to do? How long should it take? 2 days? 1 week? 1 month?

Thanks for any advice.

Best regards,
Ben

Just dump the results you want into a tab-delimited or CSV format, and Word's mail merge should be able to get the results you want using that file as the data source. As to length... setting it up should only take minutes, and unless you have massive numbers of files the run time should be measured in minutes at most. CocoaMySQL can export to CSV, so you would only have to format your query.

Doing this programmatically will be a lot more difficult, and at that point it I would need a lot more information on what you are really trying to accomplish to advise you.
