a friend of mine asked me to make her a design for her blog. she was using a pink one from blogger.

i got to work thinking of what she would like. i made her a pink site (since she likes pink), but someone commented on the fact that it is very girly. yeah it is, she is a girl and it is her blog.
but then i thought "what would this site look like more boyish?" i made a a boy and girl css file.

click the top left paper cut out person to switch 'genders'
what do you think?

two different css files
Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css_1.css" title="1"> <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css_2.css" title="2">
two different sets of images
styleswitcher.js

then after that just code all the html and add a link to switch the styles. the styleswitch.js script will swop the css files, and it uses a cookie(i assume) to remember a visitor's css style preference.

Nice design - but the switcher button may be slightly obscure/invisible - perhaps you could highlight the switcher in the different colour - e.g. blue when the Girl style is applied - and pink when the Boy style is applied.

I agree with Diggory on this one; it's very hard to find the button unless you know what you're looking for. That said, the effect is neat; this is a good use of style switching.

not validating does not mean the end of the mother ****ing world. I mean, what are you standards for grading?

Two words: grain and salt.

Code that doesn't validate isn't the end of the world, but it means that you have written incorrect instructions for your browser to follow and you're likely to get inconsistent (at best) or non-functioning (at worst) pages.

It's easily fixed and there's no excuse for producing invalid code these days with the amount of web apps that provide such tools, online site validators and general web development education.

As for the grading system, I think it's derived from a less-known Nielsen whitepaper.
