Hi,
I'm wondering how writing software for something like the new USB TVWonder (http://elgato.com/index.php?file=pro...ac7ca12961f567) works. When I have it installed does it just come across as a quicktime video source that I can stream into my application? I'm thinking of throwing together a small media program that can play videos/dvds, and watch TV. (ala MythTV)

For instance, the BoinX iStopMotion software uses whatever video input is available. Would this thing count as one? Does anyone have any advice for which classes to check out for this sort of video input?

Thanks! Sorry this wasn't the most clear post.

In the old days, when there was nothing but analogue video, many companies used to write their drivers to suit QuickTime, but these days the hardware does a wide variety of things, so they tend to write their own drivers that just work with their apps.

That device will probably only work with El Gato's EyeTV Software.

There are other options though - you can buy kit that uses a standard chipset, then use open source drivers to suit that chipset.

If you want you can then write your own app to use those drivers:
