not that i know of, unless that cheesy dhtml thing does it. if you're that bothered about it, then you may as well just go the whole hog and use Flash. personally, i wouldn't bother. it doesn't add anything to the content, but i guess i can see why some people do it.

What he said.

Except the cheesy bit - sometimes it's OK to go custom, and you don't need to do flash to get it right. In fact you can make a perfectly degradeable DHTML scroller with a little bit of tinkering. Or a perfectly disgraceful one, it's up to you

As it happens, I was browsing through the source of KHTML the other day and noticed that it does support scrollbar colouring. Safari doesn't use it, but it was interesting (to me at least) anyway.

I just tried out Konqueror (3.3.0-8) to have a look, and it worked as expected. So, if you're really desperate for coloured scrollbars on a Mac, install Konqueror. It's a lot of extra effort to get that one feature though (especially since it always looks like the proverbial and doesn't lend anything to the interface, as far as I can see).

So there you go. All that typing and naff all that's useful in it

No browsers on the Mac support the changing of scrollbar colors. This nonstandard extension to CSS is only supported by one browser on one platform -Internet Explorer on Windows- and so it should be avoided.

This said, attempting to change scrollbar colors does no harm to these other browsers; they will simply display the normal scrollbars as usual.

Um, Millennium. Right above your post I mentioned the fact that Konqueror supports changing the scrollbar colours in the same way that Windows IE does. So it isn't just one browser on one platform

Hmm. It didn't the last time I'd heard, but then, my data was pretty old anyway.

OK, two browsers support it then. This does not a standard make.

Forgive me if I'm being thick here, but who mentioned or even implied that it was a standard? The only reason I brought it up was as a correction since you seemed to not have read the whole thread before replying...

And just to muddle your point even further, Millennium, Opera on Windows also supports it, so it's (at least) three browsers

But you're saying that Opera for Mac doesn't support it?
