Hi !
I have to write a small apps for my office, that unfortunatly use windows xp machines, but I'd like to work at home where I use Mac Os X.
I wanted to use java, and I need to create a simple graphic interface. Can I use Xcode and Interface builder to wiite it, and after can I open it on a windows machine, or I need some other tools?
If yes, what kind of tools do you raccomend?

Thanks in advance...

As far as I know, Interface Builder can only make Cocoa GUIs... in other words, NIB files.
They can only be used with Java if you write Mac-only Cocoa-Java applications.

For an IDE that does Java GUIs you'll need to look elsewhere. Maybe eclipse or netbeans.

With the exception of the Direct-to-Java-Client technology in WebObjects (which uses InterfaceBuilder to create Swing apps... very cool) Apple's GUI development tools are all MacOS X only.

There are a few other tools you can use:

The eclipse project is a cross-platform IDE that has a Swing GUI builder plugin that runs on both MacOS X and Windows. That way everything would be the same, and you could run the java executables on both platforms.

The GNU tools can be used... but are still a bit rough (I will let you do your own searching... you need the practice if you are going to use them).

XCode can be used for the work... the only problem is the GUI work. It can be done manually (and will work in both places), but would look at eclipse.
