Does anybody know if and when Apple will implement soft hyphenation in Safari?

If I add & shy; to text, Safari simply renders it as a regular hyphen.

Here's some background information on the problem.

* Note, I had to add a space between the ampersand and "shy;" or else the command shows up as a hyphen in my post.
