My brother downloaded TextWrangler for use with studying JavaScript. He typed in some sample JavaScript code from a textbook but we don't know how to get it to run.

We tried "Run" from the !# Menu but got an error message about "shebang"

We also got the same message with some sample html files from the textwrangler tutorial provided by barebonessoftware when we tried "Run" from the !# Menu.

So how do run javascript and html files on TextWrangler?

I just got a reply from BareBones Software.

Apparently you run javascript & html files from Safari and not directly from TextWrangler.

My real question is how do you check for syntax error for javascript in TextWrangler?

My guess is that you don't.

Try running them in FireFox, which has a really good JavaScript console for this kind of stuff.
