I've been writing (and re-writing) a cms for a little while now, and I'm to the point where it will be fairly complete sometime reasonably soon.
My question is should I make it open source, and if I do, what steps do I have to take? Has anyone had any experience with doing this, and if so, what are your pros and cons of the experience? Also, it currently hooks into TextTile and Markdown for text parsing, so this might complicate matters. I plan on asking the authors of those softwares if about distribution when the time comes.
So I'm not asking for the benefits of open source software, which I am familiar with, but for the opinion of a small developer that has released a project as such and any experiences. It's not like I'm going to be selling this thing anyhow, it's mostly for use on sites that I make for clients.
