Pity it'll only run on XP - now we just need to wait another ten years before we can use transparent PNGs (since many people will still run old Windows OSes)

There's also a suspiciously ambiguous mention of CSS compliancy.

Welcome to 2001 MS:IE!

I'll believe it when I see it.

But in the meanwhile, if you're dissatisfied with javascript trickery, there's this:

i was excited when i heard that it would support .png transparency, for a few seconds. until i found out that it will only run on xp.

like you said, a whole lot of people don't use xp, and thus no ie7 for them. really sucks.

nice of microsoft to hold back web development.

By "only run on XP," does this exclude the nearly identical Windows 2000?

or you could look here for some code to drop into your pages that makes it all work:

slight edit:

has some trouble if you try and use PNGs in CSS, eg background etc

It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

If there are any IE users on a Mac forum, they deserve to be severely punished by having all access privileges to transparent PNG's revoked.

Make sure you add necessary support for Netscape 4.7 too!
