Hey guys I just graduated high school and want to make a website, well my friend told me to make the shell site in Photoshop and then transfer it over to GoLive so I did that, but GoLive distorted my website (if that makes since) such as the bacground a different color and etc... and also how do I make the text a link? I know I am probably asking the stupidist question, but my friend is off this week and I have no where else to go...

I also forgot I am running Photoshop 7 and GoLive 6. I am not putting it on a host yet. I am most likely going to use startlogic as a host...

if you dont got a clue about html i would suggest going to google.com and searching for html tutorials to get you started on the basics of html i dont feel like making a huge post on how to do html so its best to just google it and find one thats simple enough for you to understand.

Its quite simple to create links in HTML, just as suggested by Jay.
Well, I suggest you not to use GoLive, as you dont seem to have a good knowledge of HTML. Instead I recomend you to use Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX. It works fine, and it comes with a lot of referrence material.

It also contains the O'Reilla's HTML reference guide, where you can learn a lot of stuff about it.
"A man doesn't know what he knows until he knows what he doesn't know. "
"A pessimist is a man who looks both ways when he crosses the street. "
"Expert: a man who makes three correct guesses consecutively. "

Don't know if this is relevant, but here's a tutorial about using Photoshop in combination with Image Ready to make something "onlinable".

It's all about the slices apparently....

Er.. I'd suggest a better knowledge of HTML doesn't come from using another expensive tool. And there's plenty of reference docs in GoLive.

I do, however, highly endorse a good old fashioned read from one of those books to get to grips with HTML before messing about with a WYSIWYG editor. How would a beginner ever expect to fix a problem with manky HTML if they don't know what caused the problem in the first place?

I got my father in law a copy of SAMS Teach yourself HTML/XHTML in 24 hours and he's being using WIndows Notepad to code in. Once he's comfortable with that I'm going to get him onto Homesite, and then - only then - Dreamweaver if he wants to work more visually. I've got to say, once you remove the abstraction of the WYSIWYG interface, coding becomes a whole lot easier to understand, just slightly more tedious to work with. But, you gotta walk before you run.
Computer thez nohhh...

Check out Metapad Simon, notepad with a few bells and whistles like search and replace, line numbers and an "always on top" feature.

Opens up just as quick as notepad.
