Depends on the language. I think it works with Java (and it definitely works with Objective-C, albeit with brackets rather than dots), but otherwise I'm not sure.

Does it "just work" with Obj-C or do you have to set up some preference somewhere?
You hit F5 to bring up the completions list. There's a preference that says it does automatic completion, but I don't use it (since in most cases I can type faster than I can scan the completions box).
