Is there a way to launch an application on another Mac on your network (e.g., iTunes), by sending an Apple Event or some similar mechanism?

SSH in (as the user logged into the GUI on the remote Mac) and do 'open -a iTunes' or whatever app you want. Or: osascript -e 'tell application "Preview" to activate'
