I have implemented a MediaWiki site on my server on a subdomain. I would like the a user to navigate to that subdomain, and have the index, or default page be the index page for the wiki. I have played with redirects and have a lot of trouble with this.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I see that there is not much on the implementation of wiki around here, so I am making this thread my official Wiki How-to thread.

Does anyone know how to implement the email this user function? Is this a function only in version 1.5? I have everything is working, but I am not seeing an email this user link anywhere on my user pages.

I haven't a clue what you asked, but I just got mediawiki working today with MAMP. That was a lot easier than doing everything manually (I just about had it working that way except I couldn't get the database right). MAMP was easy.

nice job. what kind of wiki are you starting? i've read a lot about wiki, but it's been a few weeks. pretty soon, i'm going to get back into developing my wiki. i'd love more wiki discussion around here.

I'm not starting a public wiki. I'm just exploring the value of using the wiki as a personal/work journal, note-taking, and record keeping tool. MediaWiki is probably overkill for this purpose, but if it's good enough to power wikipedia...
