I have ran into a very strange back button problem on a site recently.

When in IE Windows, if I type the address to the site as www.thedomain.com/ coming from another site, the back button will not work. If however I type in www.thedomain.com/index.html, the back button does work. There is no funky Javascript on this index page and it's not php or anything just plain html. Safari and Firefox do not do this so it's just IE.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
