Hi,

I've got an idea for a website, which I would love to have its own domain name. Now, it's ages since I've put anything up on the web, and so need something simple, which will not bite me with a huge bill. As I have a .Mac account, can I use that to host an independently designed site, with its own domain name (not redirected)? Or will I have to get another hosting account, and if so, does anyone know a reputable one, preferrably here in the UK?

Thanks for any help,

David.

I have my website hosted on my .mac account and a .com url. However, the .com address is fowarded to my .mac account. It masks the .mac address with the url you purchase. When I purchased mine they gave me a free blogging credit, and some email credits. Neither of which I use. I just foward my email (ie. admin@wmcraver.com) to my .mac email.

I purchased a .com address from godaddy.com for 9.15/year. No Banners or anything of the sort. Highly customizable too!

If you have any questions let me know.

.Mac doesn't offer domain hosting. As wmcraver said, GoDaddy is a good place to buy a domain. Check out TJR Networks for hosting (not in the UK but for everyday use I doubt you will be able to notice the speed difference between a UK and US based server). They have a good $30 per year plan that has pretty much everything you will need for a small to medium sized website.
