I am looking for a good book that covers both MySQL and PHP.

Any recommendations?

PHP & MySQL for Dummies

I think the Dummies books have saturated the market, but I really think this is a good one.

my best recommendation though is the PHP website. The documentation there is first rate.

not a book, but having a butcher's at: http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/ is worthwhile.

Also ,as mentioned previously, php.net is v good - mysql not so good, tends to be a bit overwhelming, for me anyway.

I second moodymonster's rec of Ullman book. But that link takes you to the 2003 (1st) edition.
2005 2nd edition is now out:

My 1st edition is falling apparent. I still go to it when I'm reviewing basic issues or check my command spelling/formating - and looking for an excuse to upgrade to 2nd edition.
Can't think of a better place to jumpstart a beginner.
