I have an idea for an application that I was wondering if any developer out there would want to undertake.
It's a stock-tracking application that that has a similar layout to iTunes and iPhoto and Bookpedia.
Basic design:
1. iTunes 6-like interface
2. On the left hand sidebar, the "Portfolio" would be like the iTunes library. Here you can enter al your stock symbols which the app would then gather al the relevant information from Yahoo Finance.
3. You could create your own playlist-type portfolios dragging and dropping stocks from the mail library into the new portfolio (ie: you can make a "watch list" portfolio, a "my holdings" portfolio, etc)
4. Smart Portfolio's. Similar to smart playlists, you can choose to have a mutual funs smart portfolio that would automatically update whenever you added a new mutual fund ticker to your main portfolio library. Other Smart Portfolios could be "tech stocks" "international funds" etc.
5. Besides the side bar and the library list, the other main design of the app would take up the bottom part of the interface (like where the iTunes mini store is) and show charts and other info for the currently selected stock.
What do you guys think? I've searched for stock tracking apps on the mac, and most of them just don't have a mac-like feel and are poorly put together.
