Hello
I'm using .Mac to host my website, which is great by the way for anyone interested. Anyway, the 1gb of space is fine for most things, but is there a way to link a hyperlink to a file on your computer. In other words, I'm looking for a way to allow people to click a link on my website to download large files without having to upload the files to .Mac. I would prefer to keep them on my own computers, where I have tons of space. Is this possible?

It would be possible, but you are going to run into a number of issues. First, your computer must be on 24/7/365, second, most people's broadband connections have rather slow upload speeds (typically 128k - 512k) so it is going to take a long time for your visitors to download your files if your upload speed is slow and third, the most important issue is whether your ISP allows you to distribute files on a residential connection. How big are your files? Most hosts could offer you around 1GB of space for less than $10 per month.

You'd probably be better off hosting it somewhere else, but if you really wanted to, you can. As Maccrazy said, it's likely going to be a violation of your EUA for your ISP, but that doesn't stop people very often.
I recommend you get a dynamic name for your IP ( www.dyndns.org) and then link up. have fun, play aroud, etc.
good luck.
