Where would I get a cheap or free C++ compiler for an Intel Mac? I have a utility which is available only as source code, and I have no idea how to deal with it. Where would I find instructions on how to compile, or do those come with a compiler?

If you install the developer tools from the Mac OS X install DVD (XCode Folder), you will have a very nice compiler.

Go into terminal, type in "man g++" to learn how to use the compiler.

Thanks. I haven't actually got the computer yet. It should arrive in the next week or two. I am trying to get a head start.

g++ is probably the standard on *nix, but don't forget Intel's compiler for MacOS.

It's not free, but it's made by the same people that make the processor so ho hum.
