I have a domain name that I want to use with a site I am creating. For the site, I just need one page, so I don't really want to pay a monthly fee. Can I use my .Mac account to host this site?

I'm not talking abut forwarding the domain name either. I want to keep people at the URL they type in.

Any help is appreciated, I know nothing about web hosting.

I dont think thats possible. Those are 2 completely different things. You can forward your domain to your .mac which will host your page, but you cant keep users in that domain. Your .mac address will show up there..

Only solution is to ask someone you know who has webspace to host your page - he/she just has to make an extra FTP directory and have your nameservers transfered to the hosting company. Or just buy a $2 plan at Godaddy.com

No you can't do that unless you use hosting which will host the domain. The easiest way is to just get a cheap account, for example TJR Networks has a $15 per year account. It's not exactly designed to host huge sites, but I think it would cover your needs nicely and at minimal expense.

I used something similar a few years ago. It was called masking or something like that. I paid a certain amount ($20) for a domain name & the provider (123cheapdomains.com) IIRC forwarded all traffic to my .mac website. At the top of the page was my domain name, never the .mac address. It's been a while since your original post, but if you're interested, I could see if I could dig up the exact provider.
