Hi,

I'm just starting to think seriously about producing a website and have a couple of questions. I've had one until now which I made with iWeb, but there are lots of problems with this - it's pretty quirky with different browsers etc., and it doesn't integrate with non-Apple blogging tools etc. There are a couple of relatively simple things I want to do in Perl in the end site that iWeb makes incredibly hard.

So, I'm figuring probably I'm going to move to proper CMS - which will allow me to publish stuff from places other than just my mac as well as a secondary benefit - and I have a webhost that has Drupal, Geeklog, Joomla, Mambo, SiteFrame, Post-Nuke, Nucleus, Wordpress and a few others. So far so good...

My question is: what tools are best for interacting with these? I would much prefer a rich client-side application which allows 1. local testing and 2. offline development. And ideally 3. some drag-and-drop stuff for all the bits I just want to do quickly. That is...I kind of want some of the ease-of-use benefits of iWeb, but without its shortcomings.

Does anyone here have any thoughts or suggestions? Here's what I have at present:

- Taco (love this editor)
- Adobe GoLive (CS1)

But I'm happy enough to buy another tool if it's the right thing...

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help,
LondonJ
