I''m not sure if this is in the right place, buthopefully it is.

I just got my first mac a week ago so i'm new at this. But I've been making website for 2 years now and I always edted codes by hand with notepad. Now that I have a mac its more complicated. I tried to use text edit to edit unpublished .html files in code, but textedit was working like a WYZIWYG editor. Is there anyway I can make is into just code, or is there another program I could use?

Make sure you have TextEdit set to open and save files as plain text, not RTF. It ships set to use RTF by default.

There are several good free editors with more HTML-oriented features which you can also use. I like TextWrangler, which you can get at Bare Bones Software : PRODUCTS : TEXTWRANGLER

The format menu has a 'make plain text' item in it. As well, if you open up the preferences you'll see a radio toggle for rich text or plain text.
